THE COD ROAD

The Cod Road opens a new territory to the field of historical archaeology (it is the first longterm project on the colonial period in Saint-Pierre et Miquelon) and acknowledges that the relationship between the North and the South colonies (or the “Cod Road”) and dry salted cod distribution was as important for building and maintaining colonies’ lifeways as the better understood East-West provisioning network linking Europe to America. The Cod Road is a SSHRC funded project.
